The Howell Journey Blog orginally was created to track our travels as we fulltimed RV'd from 2004 to 2006. A lot of our RV postings are still part of this blog. The latest adaptation to the blog is to chronicle the events and process of an owner/contractor starting a new construction company with a new family home.
Chris built a mini- warehouse (42,000 square feet) back in 1984 with the help of a general contractor and Virginia was the general contractor on a home we gutted, remodeled and added onto in the late 1990's in the Preston Hollow area of Dallas. This home was transformed from an original 2,800 square home, built in 1958, into a beautiful 4,900 square foot home. We sold the home in August of 2004 within three days of listing it when Chris took early retirement from Citigroup.
The adventure being the general contractor on this new home is at times overwhelming, exciting and to be candid - slightly terrifying. Each day, Chris gathers more knowledge and feels more confident in the process. We are thankful for Christian friends in the construction industry, including Jim B., who takes the time to explain the basics and answer questions with great patience.
We welcome you to join us as we embark on this new adventure.
